WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Rhode Island Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse both voted "Yea" as the Senate passed a historic immigration reform bill Thursday afternoon on a 68-to-32 roll-call vote.

The bill calls for an earned path to citizenship for some 11 million undocumented immigrants living in this country, and massive additional border security.

It now goes to the House, where passage is uncertain.

Whitehouse sat on the Senate Judiciary Committee that last month passed the bill, crafted by the bipartisan so-called "Gang of Eight" last month, onto the Senate floor.
