Airport Corporation receives $6 million to relocate Warwick ballfields

WARWICK, R.I.--The Rhode Island Airport Corporation has received a $6 million federal grant to relocate the ball fields at Winslow Park to a new location near T.F. Green Airport for the expansion of Runway 5-23.

U.S. Senator Jack Reed and Mayor Scott Avedisian announced that $6,094,017 will be used to build 4 regulation softball fields, 2 practice softball fields, 3 soccer fields, walking trails, a new concession stand and a "tot lot" to replace one being demolished by the relocation of Main Avenue.

The work is being done by J.H. Lynch & Sons, and construction is expected to be completed by the end of June 2015.
